Talgarth in the Brecon Beacons National Park

Talgarth is a small market town on the northern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park.
The confluence of the small rivers Enig and Ellywe is located in the centre of the town. the passage of these clean fast flowing rivers through the narrow streets of the town makes for a pleasant aspect. Talgarth is one of the centres for tourism in the Brecon Beacons National Park.

The medieval Tower Bridge crosses the Ennig in Talgarth. There is only one other Tower Bridge located in Mid Wales. The tower and present church were both built in the 14th century to guard the river crossing and the town.  The town was granted borough status early in the 14th century and this suggests that Talgarth at that time was a prosperous centre for trade and agriculture. Bronllys, near Talgarth, has a well preserved Norman Keep.

The Pwll-yr-Wrach Nature Reserve and waterfalls, on the outskirts of Talgarth, provides a gentle walk through shady woodland. Follow the geology trail, explaining the environment of 400 million years ago, or keep an eye open for tawny owls, badgers, foxes and otters. this nature reserve is owned and managed by the Brecknock Wildlife Trust.

Llangorse Lake is with in easy reach of Talgarth by car. It offers pleasant opportunities took to this picturesque lake, canoeing and sailing by arrangement with local providers, bird watching. A European Special Area of Conservation. heating

I0t is the only nonconformist denomination decidedly Welsh in origin . It was introduced into the United States by Welsh settlers in New York State in 1826 and became united with the Presbyterian Church in the United States in 1920. He changed the local economy by introducing mechanical innovations that anticipated the Industrial revolution. A museum at Coleg Trefeca commemorates his achievements.
