Crossroads for City, Country Coast

Cefn Coed is well known in South Wales for its splendid curved Railway Viaduct with 14Cefn Coed village and Cilsanws Mountain in the background. Cefn Coed is well known in South Wales for its splendid curved Railway Viaduct with 14 arches. Build in 1866 to carry the Brecon and Merthyr railway line. The locality makes an ideal base from which to visit all the attractions of South Wales. The village of Cefn Coed is located at the crossroads of the A470 and A465. The A470 is the main South to North Wales trunk road. The A465 connects the M50 through Abergavenny, Cefn Coed and onto Swansea and West Wales.

All areas of the National park are within easy reach of Cefn Coed In driving times 

  • Brecon is only 20 minutes

  • Abergavenny 20 minutes drive

  • Crickhowell 25 minutes 

  • Hay On Wye 45 minutes

  • Llandovery 40 minutes. 

The Stage Coach Bus Company stops to pick up passengers in the village after leaving the railway station at Merthyr Tydfil.   • The Capital City of Wales Cardiff is only 30 minutes drive and can also be visited with ease by train or bus from Merthyr Tydfil. Cardiff has many attractions of interest to visitors. Cardiff Airport and Railway Station offers transport links to all parts of the U.K. and many destinations throughout the world.

  • Swansea City the gateway to West Wales and onto the Pembrokeshire National Park is about 35 minutes drive from Cefn Coed. The spectacular Gower Peninsula coastline the first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty designated in Wales is easily reached to the west of Swansea.
