Alan’s first involvement with the National Park was as a young volunteer in 1968 but reached the dizzy heights of Area Manager (East) by 2010. Alan had a leading role in the National Park Authority’s Guided Walks Programme and was instrumental in helping many leaders, both staff and volunteer, attain national governing body awards such as the Walking Group Leader and Mountain Leader (Summer) awards.
