Cycling in the Brecon Beacons:
Cycling is a truly enjoyable way to explore and view the Brecon
Beacons National Park. the National Park is covered by a myriad of the
country lanes taking you too small old settlements and isolated farmhouses
set amidst mountain scenery all interconnected via a network of main
roads.

A circular section of the Taff
Trail connecting Merthyr Tydfil to Pontsticill to Talybont on Usk
to Brecon returning to Merthyr Tydfil via the Storey Arms encompasses
fine panoramas of the central beacons. Most of this combined
cycle and footpath route is off road. you can join this circular tour
either at Brecon or at Merthyr
Tydfil where the railway station provides a useful public
transport link. Alternatively the linear section of the Taff
Trail leading to Merthyr Tydfil and then the Beacons can be commenced
at Cardiff.

The Lôn Las Cymru (the
Wales National Cycle Route) runs the length of Wales from Chepstow
or Cardiff to Holyhead. The middle section of the Welsh
National Cycle Route passes through the Brecon Beacons National
Park. The route includes the Taff
Trail from Cardiff to Brecon passing through the industrial
valleys of South Wales before choosing between the Taf Fawr or Taf
Fechan Valleys for your passage through the Beacons to Brecon.
attempt onwards from Brecon to Builth Wells includes a link to the
time of books Hay on Wye. Two easy
to read maps available from Sustrans provide detailed
information about this 185 mile long route.

mountain bike course in Abercrave route 43.

course the Taff Trail are just two of the opportunities for cycling in the Brecon Beacons.

Nearby Llanwrtyd Wells runs a Mountain Bike
Festival in August and a four day event in October. There are several places where you can
hire cycles and mountain bikes. Take note that the roads can be busy, many minor routes
are narrow and many roads involve steep climbs.
