Powys Food To
Future Food Initiatives is a partnership facilitated by the Soil
Association with National Lotteries funding.
Local partners include Health Promotion, Powys County Council
(Local Agenda 21), Menter Powys, Welsh Development Agency, Mid Wales TEC,
Brecon Beacons National Park, NFU, and the FUW. The project is co-ordinated
by Powys County Council and Health Promotion Wales.
The process brings together anyone interested in
food and farming issues thus attempting to
facilitate support for a sustainable local food
economy. A series of workshops
resulted in a plan of action will develop.
Action groups have been formed to take these
ideas forward and initiate projects.
At present action groups are working on:
- Farmers markets
- Distribution schemes for small producers
- Production of a car sticker
- Local food in the public sector
