Brecon Beacons Food Festival at the Mountain Centre  
The aim of the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority’s Food Festivals is to provide a shop window for food producers from the National Park and surrounding areas. The National Park Authority aims to boost the food and farming industry by increasing people’s awareness of the variety and quality of what is available locally.  Free All welcome to come along to savour the tastes and enjoy a packed weekend of events.

Abergavenny Food Festival: annual food festival held in the market town of Abergavenny in the middle of September. well established well attended and well stocked has been described as the Glastonbury of food festivals.

 

Brecon: 

Llanfaes Diary Ice Cream Parlour & General Stores  - home-made ice cream in 50 different flavours probably the best ice cream in Wales. The flavour and texture of the ice cream is just like Italian ice cream when purchased in Italy. my personal favourite is the pineapple flavour. The only other ice cream I have tasted this year which was as good is a Grand Marnier ice cream in Florence! Food Passion Swansea Food Guide – a unique insight into the thriving local food scene in Swansea Bay, Mumbles and Gower, taking a look at restaurants, wine merchants, markets and fine food purveyors.

    Powys Food To Future Food Initiatives is a partnership facilitated by the Soil Association with National Lotteries funding. Local partners include Health Promotion, Powys County Council (Local Agenda 21), Menter Powys, Welsh Development Agency, Mid Wales TEC, Brecon Beacons National Park, NFU, and the FUW. The project is co-ordinated by Powys County Council and Health Promotion Wales.

The process brings together anyone interested in food and farming issues thus attempting to facilitate support for a sustainable local food economy. A series of workshops resulted in a  plan of action will develop. Action groups have been formed to take these ideas forward and initiate projects.

At present action groups are working on:
  • Farmers markets
  • Distribution schemes for small producers
  • Production of a car sticker
  • Local food in the public sector
     
    The Cambrian Organic Group is a resource for anyone interested in Organic Production. Offers useful resources for the farmer, smallholder, retailer or anyone interested in eating good quality food produced to the highest standards in Wales.
